A-Rod: 'I Knew We Weren't Taking Tic-Tacs'

Star to tell more about his steroid use

Share

(Newser) – A-Rod faced reporters in New York today to, in his words, “take my medicine.” He said he was injected by his cousin, with a substance that was legal in the Dominican Republic. “It was very amateur hour,” he said. “We probably didn’t even take it right.” He also said he’d taken a drug test before the news conference, and would take another next week.

He said no one had been involved but his cousin, who he refused to name. He said he didn’t know what, if anything, it had done to enhance his performance, but they’d kept it secret because, “I knew we weren’t taking tic-tacs.” He said he stopped taking it because baseball’s new testing policy and his 2003 neck injury scared him straight. He said he was eager for a new start. "Baseball is a lot bigger than Alex Rodriguez."

better baseball through chemistry !! enough of the poor, poor a-rod mantra. the man is a fraud, a cheater, and a disgrace to baseball. all his "records" should be erased as they were attained with banned steroids. you cheat on a test, you get a zero. our kids would understand this. i'm not sure that our children will understand that concept of standing up for a confessed steroid cheater. i wonder how many of these team-mates will also be named as cheaters. another sad day for baseball, and all those who stand up for this cheater. When he was asked if had witnessed anyone else taking steroids, he repeated the question, paused, looked up to the left, smirked... This all took place in about 5 seconds. When a person does that, they're seeing pictures in their mind....(yes I've see 1 or more people doing steroids, there they are, but I choose not to say yes)...he lied on that question. Reply

Void his contract and bar him from the game...This is at least as damaging to the game as Pete Rose placings small bets ON HIS OWN TEAM.... Reply
