Chicago Trib to Burris: Out, Damned Senator!

Burris has clearly lied, and has to resign

(Newser) – Time to go, Roland. The Chicago Tribune editorializes today that Sen. Roland Burris should resign, having used up his last shred of credibility by the time he changed his story for the fourth time yesterday—with the story getting "worse with every telling." Whether and how much he actively cooperated with then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s scheme to sell the Obama's former Senate seat, Burris was seated by the Senate on the condition that he testify truthfully—the first time.

"His protests that he had nothing to hide just don't square with his obvious attempts to hide something," writes the editorial board. The clearly mendacious Burris has to resign, and something should be done to keep this from ever happening again. “Strip this whole wretched process out of the hands of the politicians and give it back to the people.”

The benefit of the doubt had already been stretched thin and taut by the time Roland Burris offered his third version of the events leading to his appointment to the U.S. Senate.

Hearing Burris tell his story is like listening to a five year-old lie about how a lamp got broken. At some point, you just get tired of hearing it, and only want the child to go to bed.

This is rediculous, while I lean more democrat than republican, I can honestly say, that this guy must go. The democrats were under pressure to make the Gov and his story go away because it was detracting from the important things at hand, like our economy and they should never had done that. He's a liar and he really needs to go. As far as being qualified. A public office actually doesn't require you to hold any type of degree, etc. all it takes is votes. However, it should because then we could end up with more Sarah Palin's if office.

That and he's not even qualified to be a US senator. One term as state attorney general and a comptroller (whatever that is) before that? Get him out.
