After 9 years on the bench, Detroit has regained the coveted status of best sports city of the year, according to the Sporting News. The magazine weighed factors including won/loss records, championships, star players, and fan fervor. The Motor City (plus Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti) managed to overcome the performance of the atrocious Lions and depose Chicago for the crown.
