Angie, Be a Bad Girl Again

Writer misses the good old days

(Newser) – Angelina Jolie may have an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, but Kim Morgan misses “the crazy-movie-star deliciousness” of her bad-girl days, when she was a “gorgeous Vampira weirdo” playing insane roles and “quite nearly mashing on” her brother in a move that finally made the Oscars interesting again. Luckily, the old Angelina is still there, lurking underneath the “pouty-lipped sex bomb Mother Teresa,” Morgan writes for the Huffington Post.

When it comes to last year’s roles, Wanted (where Jolie “skulks around all assassin sexy”), not Changeling, should have garnered her the nomination, Morgan argues. That role, coupled with her stare-down of winner Anne Hathaway at the Critics Choice Awards, signaled a possible return of bad-girl Angie, and that’s a good thing: “Who's Afraid of Angelina Jolie? Many, I think. Thank goodness. Or badness.”

If she wins, chances are Angelina Jolie will not make this year's Oscar speech as memorable as the 2000 awards when she won Best Supporting Actress for 'Girl, Interrupted,' Kim Morgan writes.

When Anne Hathaway won the forgettable Critics Choice Award and gushed onstage ... Jolie stared her down with as much condescending wickedness as Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. - Kim Morgan

She suffers from her own version of the Madonna-whore complex, a sort of St. Angelina/man-eating home wrecker syndrome.

Though totally modern with her tattooed, ex-blood-vial-wearing, and current save-the-children stance, she manages to be decidedly old school Hollywood.

Jolie has the range, the charisma and the, at times, weird gorgeousness that makes her so compelling. - Kim Morgan

I'm a big Angelina fan. I don't want her to become to goody 2 shoe. Movie wise, bad girl Angie is definetly more interesting to watch.
