(Newser) – Rihanna has spoken publicly for the first time since her assault, assuring fans in a statement that "she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support," reports People. Her rep said the singer won't comment on the assault at the police's request. Rihanna turned 21 yesterday and was photographed back in Los Angeles—on the same day a police photo of her bruised face surfaced in the media.

She's not the Saint people are making her out to be. Quiet as kept, woman are abuser also, and just because she took the brunt of the conflict doesn't make her innocent. One important note when referencing Rihanna to Turner is that in Tunrers time period, there were no support groups for battered women and/or ways for women to leave. There is no reason Rihanna, who has far more resources than Turner had in her time, including control of her financing to have remained in her relationship unless there is more to the story, of which I'm quite sure there is. I don't condone violence against women whatsoever, however it should be noted she instigated the attack by attacking Brown over a message and/or call. Brown should have left the vehicle, he has no excuse, but if this had been a normal domestic both parties would have been arrested.

Regardless of 'who started it" beating people and remaining in an abusive relationship is WEAK, not strong. Tina Turner was strong when she left Ike.

I am very sorry for this woman. Nobody should have to live with abuse, man or woman. But this is not real news. It's gossip.
