On Last Late Night, Conan Looks Back

Show features old clips, special guests

(Newser) – Conan O’Brien took the stage for the final episode of Late Night yesterday, reminiscing about 16 years on the air with clips and big-time guests, E! Online reports. The 2,725th episode featured John Mayer singing to Conan, Will Ferrell appearing as George W. Bush, and the first White Stripes performance since 2007. Longtime sidekick Andy Richter joined Conan to share the memories. Conan moves to Leno's 11:35 slot on June 1.

Following a week that featured past highlights, set-smashing, and appearances by Jerry Seinfeld, Martha Stewart, and Mayor Bloomberg, O’Brien showed clips last night of his visit to an 1800s-style baseball game and his proving to Jennifer Garner that “snuck” is a word. “There are people that have hosted these kinds of shows who are better than I am," O’Brien said. "Nobody has ever enjoyed it more than I do.”

Sometimes I read that it's time for Conan to grow up because he's going to 11:30. And I assure you, that's just not going to happen. I can't. This is who I am, for better or for worse. - Conan O'Brien

That's nice but doesn't he make 17 million a year? If few comedians have accomplished what he has, then what is it, other than doing a ton of low-profile stand up? He's not a particularly famous stand-up comic either. Quick, name a classic Leno stand up bit or routine...

By the way, according to (http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1880685_1880687_1880885,00.html), Conan also paid his employees out of his pocket during the strike.

Well it's kind of implied since they are opposites. But yea, I wasn't really responding to you only, just to all the Leno people. Sorry about that.
