(Newser) – Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee champion sprinter known affectionately as Blade Runner for his carbon-fiber running legs, is recovering from head and face injuries after a boating accident in South Africa. He and his friends were aboard a vessel that hit an unknown object, CNN reports. Pistorius, 22, has since had surgery and still plans to compete in May's Paralympics, according to his manager.
