(NEWSER) - Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent cancer surgery today, NPR reports. The court’s only current female jurist, 75, was to have a tumor removed from her pancreas at a hospital in New York. Ginsburg underwent successful treatment for colon cancer 10 years ago. (AP) - Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released from a Washington hospital today after spending the night as a precaution. The 76-year-old Supreme Court justice planned to be back at work later today. Ginsburg, who underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer in February, "developed lightheadedness and fatigue" in her office yesterday after receiving treatment for anemia, said a court statement. More»

The 75-year-old justice has survived cancer before (colorectal, a decade ago), and doesn't see a reason why the recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer should cut short her judicial career, she tells USA Today.
