(Newser) – A British psychic healer murdered his wife in a fury when she uncovered his numerous affairs, a jury ruled today. David Chenery-Wickens, 52, will serve at least 18 years for killing his wife Diane, who found phone records of his calls to girlfriends and a gay chatline. The 5-week trial also revealed details of Chenery-Wickens' eccentric life, including tarot readings and whispering voices.

Afflicted by voices since childhood, Chenery-Wickens said he tapped a spirit called Wild Fox to give tarot readings and exorcisms. He also indulged in affairs with female clients—who often lent him money—and met gay men online. Most curious of all, he was a train enthusiast. “He seemed like a nice man," an East Sussex man told the Times of London, "even if he had this slightly off the wall part."
