Apple Revamps Desktops

Energy efficiency key to overhaul

(Newser) – Apple today announced updates to its desktop line: All computers got a boost in energy efficiency and meet upcoming EnergyStar 5.0 regulations, CNET reports. Prices dropped on some models as well: The new Mac Pros start at $2,499 and feature Intel Xeon processors; the iMac now starts at $1,199; and the Mac Mini, which boasts a new graphics card, starts at $599.

Proprietary software on proprietary hardware, behind a wall of rabid protectionism, and we still find these guys laudable enough to give them free advertising by announcing their new computer lines as news? Come on, people. Did you see that the iPhone tanked in Japan as being technologically behind, and now are being given away for free when signing up for 2 year contracts? I think they are going to be giving away iPhones with Happy Meals in Tokyo soon. Reply

Please, please don't give Micro$oft any more ideas... they constantly upgrade (read rob) us for much less than a trendy new desktop. Tech is right there with big oil to grab any discretionary spending that might still be in our tattered trouser pockets... Reply
