He has 553 career home runs, and almost as many embarrassing verbal blunders. The New York Daily News counts down its favorite Alex Rodriguez foot-in-mouth moments, Among them:

  • “I knew we weren’t taking Tic-Tacs.” Other than that, A-Rod had no idea what he was injecting into his body.
  • “I wish Jose Reyes was leading off on our team. That’s fun to watch.” Uh, not that I don’t like our current shortstop. I mean …

  • “Mine!” A-Rod yelled at an opposing third baseman, causing him to back off and miss a catch. It was extra classy because the Yankees were already winning by 5.
  • “There’s been a change in the relationship … You go from sleeping over at somebody's house five days a week, and now you don't sleep over.” A-Rod explains his relationship with teammate Derek Jeter, complete with slumber parties.
