Creditors in Austria will donate the proceeds from an interview with Josef Fritzl to the daughter he raped and imprisoned for 24 years, the Austrian Times reports. Elisabeth Fritzl and her six children were about to be left with nothing after creditors divvied up her father’s bankrupt estate, which included seven properties and once was worth over $2.5 million.

The amount of the payment is unknown, as is why Fritzl agreed to the interview. “I’m hoping we will have a lot of interest,” said an editor involved in the negotiations, noting that journalists don’t usually pay criminals for their stories. Meanwhile, Fritzl’s laywer tells Reuters his client isn’t a “sex monster,” and that he loved Elisabeth “in his own way.” (More Josef Fritzl stories.)
