(Newser) – Phish fans came prepared to the band’s reunion weekend, but many left empty-handed. Police seized about $1.2 million in illegal drugs and more than $68,000 in cash during the three-night event in Virginia, AP reports; they also arrested 194 fans, mostly for drug possession, use, and distribution. That’s about one arrest per officer, with nearly 200 on hand—paid for by Phish—to keep order.

I couldn't believe what you wrote, NutsInNY, but according to the full article, it is true. Phish paid the cops wages for the show. Phish, of all bands, should have known better. They should have hired private security, not cops, for this.

So Phish paid cops to bust their fans for the drugs that would make them sound good?... Take note, young people, this would be a proper time to use the word "irony".
