Nickelodeon says it won't pull Chris Brown from contention in its Kids' Choice Awards later this month, despite an onslaught of protests from angry parents, E! reports. "The kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category," said the TV station. Parents stepped up protests with an online petition after Brown was formally charged with beating Rihanna—whom parents also now want off the show because she's reconciled with Brown.

''I've never seen anything like it,'' a Viacom official told the Chicago Sun-Times, referring to the protests. ''The words I'd use to describe the situation are overwhelming and swamped." (More Nickelodeon stories.)
