(Newser) – A Houston man spent his wedding night in jail after he was caught driving from his wedding reception under the influence, the Houston Chronicle reports. The 26-year-old groom was nabbed during a local DUI crackdown, charged the next day with driving while intoxicated and freed on $500 bail. The bride was also briefly detained. The groom's attorney said the cops exhibited a lack of discretion.

If it were a police officer and his new bride or a judge and his new bride, they would have put them in a taxi and sent them home.

friend of the groom

Yes! Please send the message that it's OK to drink and drive if it's a special occasion!!! Seriously though, that lawyer must have been desperate.

No the groom exhibited a severe lack of common sense. If you drink don't drive. Hopefully before brinking any children into the world he will at least learn that.
