Obama Names Steelers Owner Ambassador to Ireland

Share

(AP) – President Barack Obama has tapped Dan Rooney, the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, to be US ambassador to Ireland. Rooney, 76, is a lifelong Republican who endorsed Obama during Pennsylvania's contentious Democratic primary and campaigned for him ahead of the general election. A good year continues for Rooney, whose team beat the Arizona Cardinals in February for its sixth Super Bowl title.

northeast - I think that SPH is referring to the ambassadorship. The actual work of the Presidency is turning out to be a bit of a challenge, trying to move forward and fix the last administration's issues amidst a quagmire of politically-motivated GOP obstructionism.

I could be ambassador to Canada tomorrow. It wouldn't make much change in the world. Reply
