(Newser) – Lance Armstrong’s collar bone, broken in a Spanish race, puts his appearance at the Tour de France in jeopardy, but the cyclist is taking a wait-and-see approach, the AP reports. “We'll go from there,” he said of his recovery in the US. “I think for the Tour it's a very big problem.” Armstrong is also scheduled to race in the Giro d’Italia, starting May 9. The Tour starts July 4.

“The crash has put my upcoming calendar in jeopardy,” Armstrong continued, “but the most important thing for me right now is to get back home and rest up and begin my rehab.” Armstrong, who has never had the common cycling injury, was laid back about it. “You know, that's cycling,” he said. “It's nobody's fault, crashes happen all the time.” Still, “It’s pretty painful. I feel really miserable.”
