'Cougar' Trend a Myth

Turns out most men still want younger women

(Newser) – The idea that a legion of young Ashtons are out there prowling for older women is—sorry, ladies—a myth, writes Meredith Goldstein in the Boston Globe. The dating industry is awash with tales of “cougar” events canceled due to low interest among younger men, and industry experts confirm that guys typically date women up to 6 years younger, but only 2 years older, than them.

“And why is that?” asks Goldstein. Men “tend to have unrealistic expectations,” says the owner of an online personals business. “"Most men are too busy looking at magazines and not busy enough looking in the mirror."

We have actually tried to capitalize on the cougar trend and it didn't really work for us. There really is so much in the media, but people really want that more traditional arrangement.

from my experience there's quite a bit of truth the the "cougar" thing. they've discovered that they have a healthy appetite for sex, and that it's not something that should be suppressed, plus they're getting a bit older and have a little more sense of urgency.
