Palin Gets Ethics Complaint for Wearing Sponsor's Gear

Share

(Newser) – Sarah Palin has been accused of another ethics violation, this time for wearing gear made by the company that sponsors her husband’s snow-machine adventure, the Anchorage Daily News reports. The governor supported Todd at the annual Iron Dog race in an outfit from Arctic Cat, which gave the snowmobiler sponsorship worth $7,500 in 2007. The complaint was filed by a Democrat who blogs under the name “Celtic Diva.”

Palin was hit with another ethics complaint—her 10th—last week, for posting a political message on the state’s website during the presidential campaign. “Are Alaskans outraged, or at least tired of this yet?” Palin said yesterday in a statement. “This would be hilarious if it weren’t so expensive for the state to process these accusations and for me to defend against these bogus harassments.”

It is not unethical to wear your husband's sponsor's gear at a race. That's just a dumb accusation and it lessens the effect of serious complaints. Reply

I'm no Palin fan by far, but this seems a bit much. I don't know the rules, but If Todd gets free clothes from his sponsors I would imagine his wife wearing the clothes is not that big a deal. Now, we should know what involvement with government this sponsor has. If they are getting favorable treatment from the governor or government, then there is an issue. Reply

Although this piece and the whining that caused it is a little picayune... we never used to have to suffer this constant reference to Palen-tology. I like it a lot more when we had never heard from Alaska. Reply
