Highest court grants permission to adopt

(NEWSER) - Malawi’s highest court ruled today that Madonna can adopt orphan Mercy James, the AP reports. The court, overturning a lower court’s rejection of the adoption bid, stated “every child has the right to love” and made the case that though the singer does not live in Malawi, “in this global village a man can have more than one place at which he resides.” More»

(NEWSER) - Madonna’s second Malawian adoption case moved forward today, only to have a ruling delayed until Friday, the AP reports. Today’s closed-door hearing came amidst more controversy. “We feel Madonna is behaving like a bully,” said the chairman of a human rights group, who accused her of trying to fast-track the process. Singer confirms split on Twitter

(NEWSER) - Apparently the Material Girl would rather have another child than a young lover. Madonna confirmed her split with Jesus Luz on Twitter, the Daily Mail reports, saying she is “glad” to be single. Some are speculating Madonna dumped the 22-year-old after Malawian officials raised their eyebrows. (NEWSER) - Nick Cannon is apparently doing something of a media blitz following the birth of his twins, Moroccan and Monroe . Or, as he calls them on E! , "Roc and Roe." Yes, really. More highlights:

• He admits the names might seem a bit odd ("When you first hear it, it's kind of funny because ... you don't know which one's the boy and which one's the girl"), but says "once you kind of let it sit for a minute, you can understand the whole thing."
• Moroccan is "a strong name" with an added bonus: It's "kind of like my name and Mariah's name phonetically together," Cannon says. "I think we did a good job on the names. They ain't gonna be mad at us when they grow up."
