Boston High School Awash With Vampire Rumors

Share

(Newser) – Authorities at an elite Boston high school found themselves yesterday in the bizarre position of having to publicly deny that certain students were vampires, the Globe reports. While vampires have been popping up more often in popular culture recently, officials and law enforcement say Boston Latin’s issue is most likely just old-fashioned bullying.

The source of the vampire rumor is a student or students who dresses “goth” and reportedly walk with umbrellas to shield them from sunlight. A police visit  on unrelated business stoked the rumor mill as students thought a “vampire” was being arrested. Most students, however, take the rumors for what they are: “I heard people were biting people, but that vampires only bite the willing,” said one senior, with a smile.

The headmaster believes that the outrageous rumors had reached a point where she had to say something to families to ensure that all students felt safe and respected.
