G20 Protest Draws 35K to London Streets

Share

(Newser) – Security patrols for next week's G20 summit, take note: A protest in London today drew an estimated 35,000 people, about three times as many as expected, the Guardian reports. Organizers of the march—a coalition of unions, church groups, and charities—are pushing for movement on “jobs, justice, and climate” from world leaders. Bad weather failed to thin the numbers, even though “hail has begun to fall,” as one marcher Twittered.

It is so hopeful to see the masses actively protesting and participating in change. Reply

You Dumbass Rob. The first G8 Summit happened here in America. It was the birth of the anitglobalisation movement. Myself: I dont think its an effective method because it only ever gets serious attention when in dire straits. When we dont have cash in our pockets. MAinstream only hears of these events in headlines when we cant go out to waste all of our money. Its quite pavlovian, the relationship I mean.
