He claims tape shows Ashley snorting coke

(Newser) – A man claiming to be a friend of Vice President Joe Biden's daughter is offering to sell the media a videotape that allegedly shows her snorting cocaine at a party this month, reports the New York Post. The man approached the Post through a lawyer, initially asking for $2 million. The newspaper didn't purchase the video, but a 90-second clip of the 43-minute tape shown to the Post revealed a 20-something woman resembling Ashley Biden snorting white powder through a straw.

The woman can be heard talking about her father. Biden is known as an anti-drug crusader and coined the term "drug czar." The man who shot the footage claims to know Ashley well, and says she knew she was being recorded. Ashley Biden was arrested for disorderly conduct at a club in 2002.

If it is indeed Biden's daughter, and that i syet to be sunstantiated, then I hope she gets help for her addicition-just like Bush did and is an alcoholic-and his daughter , as I'm sure you know. has had difficulty with alcohol-drugs-disease-genetics-they hit everyone-even the wealthy cam't buy pay to have it "go away." Some of the comments from the younger people on here -- you can tell because they see nothing wrong with drugs -- are so disheartening and indicative of the worm that is eating away at the fabric of our society. Drugs will be the ultimate downfall of America -- the upcoming generations won't be able to compete with the rest of the world because they won't be able to think straight and won't have any motivation to excel. You can already see it everywhere -- our young people have been "dumbed down" by damage done to their young brains by alcohol, weed, coke, and whatever else they think is cool to put into their bodies. Drugs are harmful -- science says so and experience with the young says so. Ms. Biden is only doing what her friends and her society says is "cool" and even mandatory if she doesn't want to seem like a prig (that's me!) and wants to be popular. The very fact that her Dad is the anti-drug Czar makes her even "cooler" to her crowd -- ultimate rebellion! Reply

First, 'ethical_person' I find it unethical to find her guilty when there is no definitive proof that Ms Biden actually did what is alleged. You've got some scumbag out there trying to make $$ from a gullible public willing to believe the worst about someone. When the right wing rag NY Post refuses to buy or publish a tape that would damage a liberal, I have to be suspicious of the tape's authenticity. Secondly, your concerns about drug use may be valid, but seem just a bit on the hysterical side, just as they did in the 60's, 70's and 80's when folks of the prior generation were expressing the same sentiments. Prior to that rock-n-roll was going to be the downfall, prior to that jazz, ad infinitum. As far back into history you want to go, there has been some boogeyman that was going to bring us to our knees. Personally, I'll give up my reefer when you pry it from my cold, dead hand. Of course I'll be dead at the hands of some right winger, drunk on alcohol, wielding one of his 10-12 automatic rifles, trying to save society.

See, just like I said . . . the drug users out there think they are perfectly normal. It IS going to be our downfall, young ones. I am a child of the wild 60s and knew then that anything that altered your mind couldn't be a good thing. Religion is included in that category for me as well. I am not a conservative and I am not a liberal -- I am a thinking, intelligent, well-meaning human being and I have always been concerned about any of the generations in my time that seek oblivion through any drug. The world isn't an easy or a pretty place to live, but we'd better be clear-headed and productive if it is to survive. Again, drugs (that includes alcohol) are our enemies . Why is that so difficult to comprehend? It's common sense and scientific fact. Reply

Because I know a whole lot of people, including family members, whose lives were either destroyed or blighted by their drug use - that includes alcohol. Look, this is a no-brainer, you guys. Drugs will destroy your brain cells. Is it really worth the chance of screwing up your life for a "high?" There is no such thing as recreational drugs. What is so wrong with abstaining from the stuff? Why take the chance that you will become one of those poor, hapless people who can't make it because their brains are fried? Oh well, I have tried the same argument with several of my nieces and nephews -- they also think it's okay to drink themselves into stupors, try any drug in the bowl, and party on through their 20s into their 30s. Two of the six are druggies -- they had such promise, too. I know that I am wasting my time here, but I have to try. As I said before in the previous post, our country's productive and competitive future is bleak. But, hey, party on -- that's what really matters in this life, right, kids? Reply

Cultures the world over use "drugs". Not all cultures have "drug problems." Plants-->powders-->pills. Whole plant substances have the power to bring people together and strengthen social bonds. On the other hand, isolated and so-called refined substances have the power to leave people isolated and alone. Legally speaking, the freedom to make your own lifestyle choices is what should prevail. Even if the use of drugs is destroying my brain, a highly doobie-ous assertion by the way, if I don't harm others then mind your own business. and I'm sure you will use caution should you stop worrying about others long enough to find that you suddenly have the time available to take an objective look at your own mind, and perhaps experiment with some of the variables.
