A Colombian man has been accused of imprisoning his daughter and raping her from the age of 9 and fathering 11 children with her, the BBC reports. He denies incest and rape charges, insisting his daughter was adopted and that the two “agreed to have a romantic relationship because we really loved each other.” Local press is calling Arcebio Alvarez, 59, the “monster of Mariquita,” his home region.
His daughter, in her 30s, said she “always respected him as my father,” adding, “he never spoke" about incest, "about why we were doing it. Sometimes I would ask him and he would say it was God's will.” Three of her children died. She said her mother passed away when she was five, the Times of London reports. When a pastor encouraged her to tell her story, she talked to a newspaper reporter.
