Benches Clear in Yanks Win Over Jays

Posted Aug 8, 07 5:46 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Roger Clemens was ejected and the benches cleared twice yesterday in the Yankees tension-filled 9-2 win over the Blue Jays. The Jays made it clear they were still incensed over A-Rod's "Ha!" play when pitcher Josh Towers hurled his first pitch of the third inning directly right at A-rod's left knee.

After a brief shouting match between A-Rod and Towers, both benches cleared, though the umpires were able to get things under control before any punches were thrown. Things heated up again in the 7th when Clemens beaned Alex Rios in the back.  He was ejected and faces a possible 5-game suspension.
