Coach Calipari Leaves Memphis for Kentucky

(Newser) – John Calipari, who turned the University of Memphis into a college basketball title contender, will leave to coach at the University of Kentucky, WREG-TV reports. Kentucky received permission to negotiate with Calipari yesterday in a bid to replace Billy Gillispie, unceremoniously dismissed Friday, the AP adds. The deal between Calipari and Kentucky is rumored to be for 8 years and around $35 million.
