Malawi Court Blocks Madonna Adoption

Judge cites requirement that prospective parents live in Malawi for 18 months

Share

(Newser) – A Malawi court has rejected a bid by Madonna to adopt another local child, reports the Times of London. The judge cited a requirement that prospective adoptive parents live in Malawi at least 18 months, according to AP. The rule was waived when the singer adopted son David Banda. This time she planned to adopt a 3-year-old girl. Critics have charged the toddler would be better off with relatives. It wasn't immediately clear if Madonna will appeal.

Outstanding call by the Malawi court system. I can never undertsand the urge for, "stars" to run off to other countries to adopt children, when our country has thousands of said children awaiting homes Reply

Agreed. The woman is unfit in so many ways, and her rush to scoop up another "orphan" is just plain sick. Reply

So poor they don't have orphans or starving children or children who cannot afford school or...yeah, who cares about Madonna anyways. It's about the kids, which is why the court will now provide a living and education to the kid and other orphaned children. How nice. Reply
