(Newser) – Barack Obama's star power may be on the rise as he sweeps across Europe, but it's Michelle who has captured the continent's heart, says Politico. As the first couple seeks to repair the damage done to European-American relations by the Bush administration, Michelle has been an equal player in the effort. "People identify with her. Even here, she is seen as a woman of the people," said one observer.

With her sense of style and natural warmth, Michelle has made headlines across Europe even as she was careful not to overshadow her husband. In a speech about her South Side Chicago roots, she emphasized the significance of her debut on the world stage. But the First Lade has no plans to play a greater role in international affairs She will continue to focus on "family, community and service," according to a White House spokesperson.

WTF! The bitch rides her husband's coattails and all of a sudden she is something great. I am very proud of Barak - she has done nothing special yet. And she is not that hot.

Goddamn it's great to love my president again! A year ago, I thought the world would never forgive us for the filth Bush shoved down the world's throat. I am just so pleased with the Obama's. Hell, did Laura ever travel with Bush? I don't seem the think so. She probably stayed home, happy he was away for a bit. (like 77 vacations in 8 years)
