(Newser) – Confidantes of Jiverly Wong weren’t shocked by his murder of 13 people at a New York immigrant services center, saying he was was enraged by humiliation he suffered as a result of his broken English and recent firing, reports Reuters. “From the people close to him, this action he took was not a surprise,” said the police chief of Binghamton, NY.

Authorities still haven’t established a motive for the massacre, which is the nation’s worst since the 2007 shootings at Virginia Tech. But one co-worker said the Vietnamese immigrant angrily told him, “America sucks,” AP reports. Binghamton authorities haven't yet released the names of the victims.

That this tragedy should have happened in our community to our friends who only wanted to advance their knowledge and love of America is unbearable.

I have never had a problem with the whole immigration thing....Some of the most hard working , intelligent, and honest people I have met, were immigrants. Immigrants are a part of why this country is so great. But what I do have a problem with, is people who are here illegaly, and have the nerve to complain about the country, and demand that WE conform to their culture and language, all the while enjoying living in the land they so claim to despise

While I don't approve of his actions, I do sympathesize with him. It sounds like he was going through some hard times, dealing with some hard things. It is a pity it had to end like that.
