(Newser) – A letter allegedly from the gunman who killed 14 last week in Binghamton, NY, is likely authentic, the Press & Sun-Bulletin reports. Police said today they had “no reason” to doubt the letter’s authorship despite a claim from the gunman’s sister he lacked the vocabulary to write it. The letter attempts to explain why Jiverly Wong, 41, went on a shooting spree at an immigrant-services center.

The letter came with pictures of Wong brandishing firearms, copies of his driver’s license and firearm permit, and describes bizarre incidents of harassment in which police allegedly snuck into his room at night. “Cop did it thirteen time on the year 1994,” the letter claims. Police say they are analyzing it for motive. “Obviously there’s some mental health issues,” commented Binghamton’s police chief.
