Pro-Lifers Mobilize Against Obama

Decisions on abortion, stem cell research swell ranks of activists

(Newser) – President Obama’s 12 weeks in office have seen a huge surge in membership and activity in the pro-life movement, reports Politico. Groups say that while they knew before he took office the president supported abortion rights, the speed with which he has moved to repeal Bush-era rules on abortion and stem-cell research has spurred them to mobilize.

Obama largely neutralized the movement during the campaign by promising to change the tone of the debate, but activists say the lack of consultation over recent moves has caught them off guard, and turned even many moderates against the administration. “The verbalization that he wishes to find common ground—we are just not seeing that,” said a priest appointed to the president’s Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

A lot of activists are waking up. For 8 years we had President Bush and his veto pen to protect us—and we don’t have that anymore. - Joy Yearout, political director of the Susan B. Anthony List, an anti-abortion political action committee

I don't see how this is a topic that shouldn't be forced on everyone. abortion is wrong on the basis of the moral guidlines of the Bible. So I guess the question is, are there absolute truths, and if so, why are we not imposing them? the baby, like all human life, should be respected as a gift from God. Case open, case closed. Exceptions for raped woman? cha! But for everyone else theres condoms. lol.

How exactly did the (hardly ever used) Bush veto pen protect the "lifers?"

They need a way to feel morally superior that involves no real sacrifice or risk. It is estimated that between 25-50% of conceptions spontaneously abort. http://www.estronaut.com/a/spo... So this makes God the busiest abortionist of all time. I guess the "right to life" crowd would call it GOD's holocaust.
