(Newser) – Stock opened lower this morning as investors braced themselves for another round of earnings. The Dow fell 80 points, while the Nasdaq and S&P declined 9.69 and 7.87 points respectively. GM shares plummeted 11% on a report that the Treasury had told it to lay the groundwork for bankruptcy. Oil companies were also headed south, after Chevron said it expects “sharply lower” earnings. Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Citigroup all release earnings this week.
