Monster Truck Plows Into Crowd

Posted Aug 10, 07 5:19 AM CDT in US

(Newser) – A mother and child were seriously injured yesterday when a monster truck stunt went horribly wrong and the vehicle plowed into a crowd of 100 spectators, AP reports. The trunk was crushing cars outside an auto parts store in Dekalb, Illinois, when the accident occurred. Another mother and her four children were treated at a local hospital and released.

"There was this sound of steel crunching," said a witness. "I ran over and saw a woman and a little girl lying on the ground." The truck plowed into the crowd after the driver "floored it and it landed on the back tires," said another spectator. "It sounded like he couldn't get the gas off and it kept going and going."
