Cop May Have Caused Death at G20 Protest

(Newser) – A second autopsy of the man who died during recent G20 protests in London revealed that abdominal bleeding, not a heart attack, killed him, the New York Times reports. The follow-up by a board looking into police misconduct did not specify what caused the bleeding. But Ian Tomlinson was filmed being beaten by police moments before his death—and an officer might now face manslaughter charges.

The London police have changed their version of events since the incident. “First we were told that there had been no contact with the police, then were told that he died of a heart attack,” a Tomlinson family spokesman said. “Now we know that he was violently assaulted by a police officer and died from internal bleeding.” The officer in question has been interviewed regarding, but not charged, with manslaughter, the Guardian reports.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.
