Vatican Plans Europe's Largest Solar Plant

Share

(Newser) – The Vatican plans to build Europe’s largest solar power plant on land it owns north of Rome, Bloomberg reports. The 740-acre site—many times bigger than the 108 acres that make up the world’s smallest nation—is predicted to generate enough power for 40,000 households when it comes online in 2014, enabling the ever-greener Vatican to sell the excess.

Now is the time to strike. One should take advantage of the crisis to try and develop these renewable-energy sources to the maximum, which in the long run will reap incomparable rewards. - Cardinal Giovanni Lajolo,
Vatican City’s governor

This should be a great money maker for them. All they have to do is pray for sunshine every day and collect the dough!! Reply

The idea of Church being a nation is absurd. The Catholics have plundered the poor and raped young boys for years. Very God-like virtues. Reply

In my WASP-y Missouri hometown, Catholics were the first white folks to allow blacks to worship with them and to be buried in otherwise-white cemeteries... So there will always be that saving grace in the back of my mind. (Even though my native tribespeople hated Catholics.)

Observer, Read please about the thousands of Jews saved in WWII, Read about the billions of dollars spent on the poor all over the world year after year, even in the countries that the rest of the world has forgotten. Read about the support for trade unions and other groups that changed the face of Eastern Europe..Hate if you choose. Just don't delude yourself into thinking that what you believe is real. Reply
