(Newser) – In just one day, Miss California became one of the most well-known opponents of gay marriage—but her sister is a gay rights activist, she revealed to Access Hollywood. “She has her own views,” said Carrie Prejean of her sister. “She debates with my dad all the time about it. That’s what’s so great about being an American—we’re able to have our own opinions.”

Regardless of the fallout from her answer to judge Perez Hilton’s question, Prejean is “honestly happy,” she told Fox News. She “dreaded” the gay marriage topic, but concluded, “This happened for a reason. By having to answer that question in front of a national audience, God was testing my character and faith.” She added, “I have no regrets about answering honestly.”

I have nothing against gay people, and I didn't mean to offend anyone in my answer. - Carrie Prejean

She was just in my hotel room and she said, "Sis, I'm not offended by anything that you said. We have two different opinions and I love you because of it. I love you because you stood up for what was right. - Carrie Prejean, on her sister

It is a very touchy subject and he is a homosexual and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. - Carrie Prejean, on judge Perez Hilton

I knew he was controversial, and so was the question. Out of all the topics I studied up on, I dreaded that one, I prayed I would not be asked about gay marriage. If I had any other question, I know I would have won. - Carrie Prejean, on Perez Hilton's question

I just feel that it was unfair for her to receive all the hatefull name callilng based on her opinion. Worse, if it cost her first place, which it probably didn't. I mean, it's just one person's opinion. Someone else made the excellent point that it shouldn't have been asked anyway. Whether you're for or against gay marriage, this whole thing is bogus. Kudos to her for being honest.

It's a Miss USA pageant - an aggregator of stupidity. Don't expect enlightenment from these meat puppets.
