Meg: Eww, Rove Is Twitter-Stalking Me!

Creeps like Rove and the county sheriff prove to be the downside of Twitter

Share

(Newser) – Meghan McCain likes being able to share the "humorously uncensored" moments of her life on Twitter but she's not so thrilled about sharing them with the likes of Karl Rove, she writes in her Daily Beast blog. "I am now being followed by Karl Rove, and my local sheriff, and God knows how many other political pundits," McCain writes. "We need to take Twitter back from the creepy people."

Rove's own Twitter feed was initially intriguing as it came from a supposedly "inaccessible man-behind-the-curtain figure," but his updates turned out to be dull and devoid of substance, McCain sniffs. Twitter is still maturing as a means of communication, "but I can’t shake the fact that Karl Rove is following me—it can be creepy. So watch out," she writes.

Karl Rove follows me on Twitter. That’s creepy. - Meghan McCain

To be honest, I find Rove’s Tweets boring. Sometimes he takes questions; other times he talks about his appearances on cable news and other shows. But he doesn’t say anything substantive. - Meghan McCain

God she's an attention whore. Does she really think that Twitter where messages run like 9 words long is the appropriate place for "substance"? Reply

That is about as much information a republic can handle at one time.

Is this going to be what our future political choices will be ? God save us all from narcissists, both young and old. Reply

I don't blame her for being creeped out. I was creeped out for 8 years by Herr Karl, Herr Cheney and Herr Bush. Reply

What is she trying to be -- the Paris HIlton of the political set? I like Senator McCain, but his privileged little girl needs to give it a rest. No one likes Rove, Cheney, etc. But maybe they are following her to see if they can groom her for a future election. Bet she wouldn't turn them down! Or maybe she just likes notoriety and has no real interest in running for public office. Maybe she's just shooting for a Playboy or Maxim shoot. Hmmmm? A true celebrity, anyone? Reply
