Drudge Goes Underground

Share

(Newser) – Where's Matt Drudge? Though he remains a political force via his website, the man himself "has gone almost completely underground," writes Gabriel Sherman in the New Republic. Fed up with media interest in his personal life, Drudge reportedly spends much of his time traveling abroad. "He's totally portable," said a friend. Another says the only media types he talks to are a select group including Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Drudge Report helper Andrew Breitbart.

Last month found Drudge publicly retorting, "I do not love sex with men" after making Out magazine's power list. "He wants no part of a lot of this," a friend told Sherman. "He doesn't have respect for the way people have tried to write about him." Limbaugh reportedly advised Drudge years ago to withdraw. Perhaps, writes Sherman, he was on to something: "Matt Drudge owes his power in part to the air of mystery that surrounds him."

I said, 'What is going on with the whole Howard Hughes thing?' He started laughing. He said something like, 'I don't need to go out there and talk. - A magazine editor who used to have frequent contact with Drudge

You know, this Drudge cat makes over a mil annually just writing cartoons for the GOP. You'd think the Times and other former media giants could make a buck or two on the internet. Does all their whining and mashing their teeth mean that they aren't smarter than the 7-11 hit and run wonder Drudge? Reply

Drudge has made a more efficient internet site. The new york times is the same on paper as it is on the site - and that's not a good thing. Maybe Drudge should be their new CEO? Hehe, ol' Pinch ain't doing anything anyway.

I thought that Drudge was suppose to be a libertarian? Evidently not if his select group are right wing nuts like Ann and Rush. Reply

If those are his friends, I bet there are a whole lot of folks very happy to be his enemy. Reply
