Mariah, Travolta not so much

(Newser) – Oprah Winfrey was voted the greenest female celebrity in an Earth Day poll, the New York Daily News reports. Leonardo DiCaprio beat out Brad Pitt and Bono for the No. 1 male spot in the survey by GreenDaily.com and Bebo.com. On the other hand, Mariah Carey is least green, joining other laggards like John Travolta, who owns a fleet of private jets.

Carey sank to the bottom by regularly flying her personal trainer from New York to St. Bart's: "People saw that as an extravagance rather than a necessity and the consequences for the planet probably don't justify it," said GreenDaily.com's editor-in-chief.

That's a no shitter! Begley has been in the forefront of going green DECADES before it was cool. I can remember Johnny Carson and the audience laughing uproariously at the idea of an all electric car that Begley promoted.

I don't understand how celebrities like Oprah deserve any credit for being "green." What does she sacrifice for a greener planet? Have you seen her house? oh and the island she bought her boyfriend? Give the credit to people who are actually deserve it not because they are rich and famous! Reply

The greenest non celebrity is that homeless man on the street. He might smell bad, but at the end of the day he leaves a relatively green footprint. Reply
