(Newser) – Battling a school for her daughter’s right to attend with an untucked shirt, a Texas woman cited the Bible, which calls for women to “adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation,” the Dallas Morning News reports. “I don’t want her behind showing,” the mother said. “I don’t want her body being exposed.” The school board voted in her favor, 6-1.

“I feel I am being persecuted for being a Christian,” Dyker Neyland said in a board meeting. “There will be a day of reckoning, and you will have to answer to God.” The school-board president said the rules hadn’t been made clear to parents in their school handbook. A district attorney said such religious citations might allow Texas parents to skirt uniform rules.
