(Newser) – Health experts are sounding the alarm over a dangerously underweight Australian beauty contestant in the Miss Universe pageant in Sydney, reports the Telegraph. Observers were stunned by the protruding bones of 19-year-old Stephanie Naumoska, who stands 5 foot 11 and weighs just 108 pounds. "There appears to be significant muscle wasting," said one health expert. Pageant officials have denied there is a problem, though the teen fits the World Health Authority standards for malnourishment.

“The most unhealthy part about it is the image it is showing other young women who may view this as normal, when clearly it is not," said the head of the Australian Medical Association. Naumoska was eliminated after the bikini competition.

The sad truth is that she's obviously deluded about how she looks, and it must have taken courage for someone with such extreme 'body image low self esteem' to march up and down in public in a swim suit. Now she'll no doubt be ripping herself to pieces about the critical news coverage and whole sick cycle will start again.

I think barfing AND catwalk strutting both need to be outlawed.
