(Newser) – A 23-month-old child in Texas has become the first person in the US to die of swine flu, a government official said today. The death of the boy, who traveled from Mexico to seek medical treatment, is the first to take place outside Mexico, where the outbreak began, Reuters reports. The US has confirmed 65 cases of swine flu, but almost all have been mild.

Another Mexican death is not a headline. How sad that a paper needs to write it that way to get attention.

The accurate statement would be a case originating in Mexico, as virtually every news organization is reporting that the child was brought to the U.S. seeking medical treatment for his illness. What irritates me about it is that the media simply can't wait to report on an American death. The only people who would be disappointed by a lack of American deaths are the American reporters currently camped outside of hospitals all across the country.

Well, apparently, no one can read, OR write. Ergo, the BOARDERS in your house might give you the willies, but only if they cross the BORDERS to get here. When you misspell, or typo, or DON'T READ THE PIECE in the first place, don't expect anyone to sympathize with you, or to respect your opinion.
