Miss California 'Made Me Laugh': Rosie

Comedian found gay marriage comment funny

Share

(Newser) – It was only a matter of time before Rosie O’Donnell commented on Miss California’s gay marriage drama, but the comic wasn’t too harsh. Carrie Prejean’s comment “made me laugh,” O’Donnell told the New York Daily News. “She said, ‘In America, you have the choice between same sex marriage and opposite sex marriage,’ like it was a flavor at Baskin-Robbins. You can have rocky road or mint chocolate chip.”

Prejean has at least one celebrity in a same-sex union on her side. Cynthia Nixon said, “Maybe some of the things she said were a little awkward, but I think she expressed a feeling that a lot of people have. I feel badly for beauty contestants who are put on the spot like that!”

I am firmly pro-gay marriage, yet I wasn't outraged by MissCali. She was wrong in what she said as well as how she said it, but she is certainly entitled to feel that way. I believe Perez Hilton did more of a disservice to the gay community in his handling of the situation Reply

Why is an opinion wrong? What was wrong with how she said it? Obviously we disagree on the subject of gay marriage, but this is not the point. She stated her opinion, which has really no correct answer, and I found her to be very diplomatic about it. Had she said everything exactly the same, but said she was for gay marriage, I would not have blinked either. What's the big deal? As for Perez, he has made her more of a celeb than what she would have been had he asked a different question or had he reacted differently.

You're right, paul. It's her opinion and not even a fringe opinion.

Any term that describes a man and another man together in a relationship of a sexual nature or otherwise cannot be called marriage and still be used properly. It breaks the law of contridiction unless words don't mean anything. From now on I will use the word bisexual to refer to airplanes in the Sky. " ohh! look honey at that bisexual isn't it amazing they can put those things in the air like that". Or "check out my new lesbian kit (drums) I just bought go ahead try it out" I think you all get my point. You have civil unions those words make perfect sense and entitle you to all the benefits of life in loving care for each other. Lets leave a good thing alone. Thank you Rosie for showing some restraint I guess as a public person you have learned that most people don't like the flaunting of the so called "gay pride" Reply
