Favre and the Rumor That Just Won't Die

Vikings obvious next stop for retired 'at this time' QB

(Newser) – The fact that Brett Favre left the door ajar, if only slightly, has sportswriters in at least two cities salivating over where the “at this time, I am retired” quarterback will land next season. And speculation is Minnesota, where, Judd Zalgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune points out, the Vikings don’t have a proven leader for what should be a potent offense—and they need to jolt ticket sales.

“Consider the NFL’s most tired reality show back in business,” David Haugh sniffs in the Chicago Tribune, noting that the Favre-watching circus “might get silly, again.” He, too, notes the Vikings’ QB hole, adding that Favre is buddies with Minnesota’s coaches, he’d get to play indoors, and, at 39, is the same age as Kurt Warner, Arizona’s Super Bowl signal-caller. “Roll your eyes if you wish,” Haugh writes, “but the possibility cannot be ruled out.”

Quarterback Brett Favre is 39, and though he's had injury troubles in recent years, he still made the Pro Bowl last season.

I started watching football because of Brett Favre. When he is gone, I won't watch anymore.
