We Paid for Implants: Pageant Boss

We wanted to boost her confidence, says co-director

(Newser) – Another Miss California pageant organizer has confirmed that the pageant paid for winner Carrie Prejean’s breast implants, the Huffington Post reports. “We assisted when Carrie came to us and voiced the interest in having the procedure done,” said co-director Keith Lewis on CBS' Early Show, though “it's not something that we endorse, nor is it something that we suggest.”

When pageant organizers meet with the winner, “we put to her a litany of questions about how she feels about herself, what she feels she needs to work on,” Lewis said. “We want to put her in the best possible confidence in order to present herself in the best possible light on a national stage.”

I don't agree with her opinion, but I do now feel sorry for her. Due to her position on gay marriage she will now be attacked personally, and will be shamed into silence. I'm sure hence forward, we will hear more salacious stories about Miss California. I hope she's at least enjoying her new found fame while it last. Reply

What the pageant's point in mentioning this? Venezuela has been doing it for many years. It rather looks like a pathetic attempt at punishing her for giving a "wrong" answer, and to save face of course. Unbelievable that they would stoop to such pettiness. Reply
