(Newser) – Master impressionist Danny Gans died this morning at age 52 at his Nevada home, the Las Vegas Sun reports. Though little known outside of Vegas, the musical chameleon was a Sin City superstar, performing before routinely sold-out crowds and appearing on the largest freestanding marquee in the world. “The loss of Danny…is at this moment impossible to comprehend,” said Steve Wynn, whose Encore hotel housed Gans’ theater.

"One of the most unique human beings and entertainers in the world has been taken from us in an unexpected moment," Wynn continued. A relative of Gans called 911 at 3:44 am today, saying the performer was having trouble breathing. Gans was dead before paramedics arrived at his home in suburban Henderson.
