(Newser) – A striking new ad featuring a drawing of Angela Merkel wearing only underwear has attracted the fascination of Berlin residents, the Local reports. Placed prominently in a busy shopping district, the billboard depicts Merkel with other figures from German politics—also in their skivvies—looking on. "The chancellor's office does not want to comment on the campaign," said a rep for Merkel.

It’s part of a campaign for an underwear company promoting a marketing scheme that allows shoppers to trade in their old underwear for a discount on a new pair. "The country needs new undies," the billboard says under the illustration of the pols.
