Martha's Banned From Britain, Too

(Newser) – American shock jock Michael Savage is only the latest celebrity banned from entering the UK; Mental Floss compiles a list of other notables:

  • Martha Stewart: “It’s frankly hard to believe that any country would want to ban Martha, domestic goddess of all that is clean and organized and Connecticut,” Linda Rodriguez writes, but her 2004 conviction is still keeping her out.

  • Snoop Dogg: The rapper was ruled “non-conducive to the public good” following a 2006 brawl at Heathrow Airport—though officials relented after video showed Snoop wasn't the instigator.
  • Pablo Neruda: Communist ties sank the Chilean poet and 1971 Nobel laureate in literature.
  • Paul Robeson: The actor’s support for Welsh miners didn't go over well.

Actually Fascists were able to base their ideology on anything they wanted because there was no definition when they came to power in Italy in 1922. They were anti-communist, anti-capitalist, anti-democratic, in fact they were mostly right wing nationalists. Mussolini was an opportunist who began as a Communist until he realized that the red fear would get him nowhere. He realized that the power was with the right not the left. Please make sure you study the facts before you spout your info. Books to check out, Mussolini and Italian Fascism by Finaldi, Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany, edited by Richard Bessel.

Can you give me a few examples of how President Obama is sounding like Benito Beer Man ? Convince me that you've read even one transcript of a Mussolini speech. Can you compare one Obama policy proposal with one of Mussolini's ? Are you sincerely trying to make a connection between fascism and socialism ? You do realize that the main aim of Italian fascism was to wipe out communsts, socialists and progressives right ? And in terms of guarding our words and fredom of thought in America.....can you spell Joe McCarthy ? ....and more recently can you spell warrantless wiretaps ? .....how about Valerie Plame who was outed as a CIA operative by our government for remarks her husband made. I believe Mr. Libby hit the slammer for that one. I'm afraid you have tunnel vision and selective memory.
