Bad Newz Dogs Vick

Posted Aug 15, 07 6:19 AM CDT in Gossip Crime & Courts Sports

(Newser) – With federal prosecutors poised to bring more serious charges against Michael Vick in the ongoing dogfighting investigation, the quarterback's attorneys are trying to work out a plea deal, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Two more of Vick's co-defendants are expected to plead guilty this week.

The defense is negotiating with both the US Attorney's Office and the NFL, to limit the Pro-Bowlers jail time and salvage his career. If he pleads to current—or reduced—charges he could serve a year or less. A grand jury in Richmond, VA, is scheduled to consider new charges on Monday, which means Vick and his squad will likely reach a decision in the coming days.
