Benjamin Netanyahu has swept re-election to the chairmanship of Israel's powerful right-wing Likud Party, boosting his intent to reclaim his position as head of Israel.  "The Likud's journey back to the prime minister's office has begun," he declared. Netanyahu, 57, grabbed 73% of the vote in early results, leaving radical Jewish settler Moshe Feiglin far behind in second place.

A self-described hawk, Netanyahu has recently tried to position himself in the middle of the political spectrum to gain further support. "Tomorrow we start working to topple the government and return to power," vowed a Likud member. (More Israel stories.)
